In January 2025, URTA joined 29 other state broadband and telecom associations in filing an Amicus Curiae brief urging the US Supreme Court to overturn the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit opinion that found that the FUSF contribution method established by the FCC under 47 U.S.C. Section 254 is unconstitutional. The joint Rural Associations gathered data from their nationwide membership to create a report summarizing that data to show the positive impact of the FUSF system on rural areas.
